Come early next year, we will see a new player join in the booming global smartphone market. The new company we’re talking about is Linshof, a new technology company based in Germany. The company just announced plans of its first smartphone earlier today and it does seem pretty impressive going by the spec-sheet. The company’s first smartphone has been named the i8 and will be priced at a very reasonable $380 and launch in Q1 2015. No specific date has been mentioned yet though.
The device has a very interesting design from what we can tell from the pictures posted by the company on its website. The body is said to be made out of metal, with a brushed aluminum back. Two colors are seen in the press-release and the official product page of the device – Black and Coffee. The i8 will feature a 5” Full HD Super AMOLED display with accurate color calibration, 2.1GHz Octa-Core processor of unknown make, 3GB “fast clocked” RAM, 13MP rear camera with 28mm wide-angle f1.8 lens with a Sony CMOS sensor, 8MP front-facing camera, 3100mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI 1.4 with 3D support, USB port, NFC, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity. The device would run Android 5.0 Lollipop with hardware-accelerated Linshof UI. All this for just $380. The company claims it aims to provide high-end hardware for mid-range pricing. If the device does indeed turn out to be as impressive as spec-sheet sounds, then it will definitely be a smartphone to look out for next year.
The company’s website also lists another variant of the i8 named i8 Space that is said to come with 144GB internal storage and a 10-inch tablet with a similar design as the smartphone. As we haven’t heard anything else about the company earlier, we’re not sure if the devices would indeed be available for sale next year. Guess we’ll just need to wait and watch for this one.
