Samsung's Tizen-based Z1 gets its features and specs leaked once again

The leak comes from the device’s official launch event in India.*

Samsung’s plans to launch a Tizen-based smartphone that people can actually buy finally seem to be coming to fruition. The first such device, the Samsung Z1, was leaked along with a picture and specs less than a day ago, and now, more details on the device have surfaced online. This time, these details are as final as they get, as they come directly from the Z1’s launch event that is taking place in India.

The Samsung Z1 will feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4-inch PLS TFT WVGA (800×480) display, 768MB of RAM, a 3-megapixel fixed-focus rear camera, VGA front shooter, 4GB of expandable internal storage, dual SIM slots, and a 1,500mAh battery. The phone will run Tizen 2.3 out of the box, and will carry a plethora of features, such as Ultra Power Saving Mode, Auto Selfie mode, and offline maps (Nokia’s HERE Maps will come pre-loaded), some of which can be seen on Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy devices.

In order to court consumers, Samsung will be offering up to 500MB of free 3G data for three months for subscribers of network operators Reliance and Aircel. The launch event seems to be open to a limited audience and hasn’t revealed details on pricing and availability, though previous leaks suggest the Z1 could go up for sale from January 18th, at least in India.
