Nvidia has been extremely quick at updating its latest dedicated gaming device to newer versions of Android.*
Nvidia was one of the first manufacturers to update its devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop, having updated*the SHIELD Tablet to the new version of the OS within three weeks of its official debut. It turns out Nvidia isn’t slowing down anytime soon, as it has now started updating the SHIELD Tablet to Android 5.0.1.
Rather than just bring over the default changes in 5.0.1, Nvidia has added a couple features of its own as well. These include new options for the Camera Awesome app that comes pre-loaded on the tablet, support for OpenGL 4.5 graphics, and some memory and performance improvements (especially when switching between apps.) Nvidia has also added back volume control and Airplane Mode buttons in the power menu after they went missing with the original 5.0 update.
Android 5.0.1 is rolling out to both the Wi-Fi and LTE variants of the SHIELD Tablet, and should be accessible from the Settings » About device menu for those who aren’t seeing a notification for the OTA just yet.
