Screenshots and video show Android 5.0.1 Lollipop running on the HTC One M8

The screenshots show HTC’s Sense UI with numerous touches of Google’s new Material Design.

It looks like HTC might take its current flagship phone, the HTC One M8, directly to Android 5.0.1 once it starts updating the device early next month. A video and multiple screenshots*of Android 5.0.1 running on the M8 have surfaced online, giving us a look at*how Lollipop will further enhance HTC’s already attractive Sense UI.

The Taiwanese manufacturer*seems to have adopted all of the animations and touch effects that Google introduced in Lollipop, in addition to a couple of functional changes, including a redesigned notifications shade, multitasking menu, notifications on the lockscreen, and more. The software is still distinctly HTC, but with enough changes to make it feel like the device has received a major upgrade.

HTC has also introduced a new “easy mode” that strips down the homescreen to the bare essentials in order to simplify things for users, as can be seen in the video below. Overall, not a lot of new features have been added, though we will have to withhold judgement on HTC’s version of Android Lollipop until the official update starts rolling out.
