Sinclair's Spectrum ZX gets revived, pre-loaded with 1,000 retro games

Back in the 1980’s Sir Clive Sinclair helped created some of the most affordable computers around, and one of his most beloved project is being retrofitted for the new digital age.

The Sinclair Spectrum ZX, think of it as the UK’s response to the Commodore *64, is getting a reboot and people looking for a dose of nostalgia will be happy to know that the classic gaming machine will come with some 1,000 games.* However, the console will support the 14,000+ games that were developed within the years that 5 million or so of the machines were sold.

All retro gamers need to do is plug the machine into a TV, and off they go.* Retro Computers Ltd. is currently seeking backers on Indiegogo, with hopes that they’ll be able to secure enough funding to manufacture the first 1,000 consoles.* 100GBP will secure backers their limited edition Vega, but 1,000GBP will make one backer the proud owner of the only working prototype.* Unfortunately, the prototype has already been snatched up, but there is still room for backers in the 100GBP tier.

Backers can expect to have their ARM-powered Vega by February of 2015.* It stinks that you couldn’t get your pop the console in time for Christmas, but it’s never too late for a Christmas present.* An IOU on Christmas eve should suffice.
