Photos and specs of the 5-inch device have leaked out in China.
Is OnePlus working on a mini sibling*to the OnePlus One, its hard-to-get, oft-controversial flagship smartphone, in addition to a standard top-of-the-line successor? Leaked images would certainly suggest so – photos of a 5-inch version of the OnePlus One have cropped up on Chinese social network Weibo, showing a smaller device that looks very similar to the OnePlus One.
According to the leak, the One Mini is already undergoing testing, with a 5-inch display at the front and an octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset ticking away inside. Oddly, both the front and back cameras are listed as 8-megapixel in a photo showing a benchmark running on the device, suggesting OnePlus could downgrade the rear camera over the OnePlus One while increasing the resolution of the front shooter (which is a 5-megapixel unit on the One.)
There’s no telling whether the smaller OnePlus One is an actual device or if we’re looking at a prototype, or possibly fake, device. Hopefully, if the One Mini*is*on its way to the market, OnePlus will have all issues with availability worked out and not subject its new phone to the maligned invite system like its CyanogenMod-powered current (and only) flagship.
