Certain Samsung smartphones may put their owners’ lives in jeopardy by allegedly catching fire out of nowhere, but sometimes they can be life savers too, literally taking bullets for the corporal integrity of their masters.
While I’m pretty sure you’ve all heard of waterproof, dustproof, scratchproof and even boldly proclaimed shatterproof gadgets, bulletproof gear might be a little harder to come by. Unless you’re willing to pay roughly $400 for it.
Wait, what? That can’t be right. Yet it is, according to reports out of Taiwan, claiming a sensibly priced, plasticky, mid-range Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 stopped a bullet from perforating a young man’s rib cage and possibly killing him.
The Mega proprietor got assaulted by another mystery individual, who didn’t hesitate to pull out a gun and shoot following an altercation involving a wallet. Come on, guys, can’t we all get along? I mean, sure, it seems the victim was initially at fault, tracing his attacker’s property and jokingly (or not) blasting he scored easy beer money.
But it sounds like things escalated rather quickly, and I’m not sure I can find many excuses for the assailant’s savage behavior. Thank God the encased Mega 6.3 pictured above intervened, reportedly giving its last breath in the field of battle.

Quite the heroic way to go, huh? Rest in peace, little phablet, your owner will never forget you. Samsung devices in general either, we presume, as this is probably one mobile user who’ll stay faithful to one OEM and one OEM alone for the rest of his lucky life. Just don’t anyone try this at home, okay?
