With the launch of Maxwell in early 2014, Nvidia had upped their gameplay by combining mid-to-high level performance with power efficiency, a concept long thought to be mutually exclusive, as compared to Fermi or Kepler. This is shown when the GTX 750 and 750Ti, which was based on the GM107, was launched.
Half a year onward, Nvidia has suprised us again with the launch of the GTX 900 series, based on the 2nd generation Maxwell architecture GM204. While still on the 28 nm manufacturing process node which was also used by Kepler, Nvidia has further refined Maxwell's key feature, the performance to wattage ratio to a point that the GTX 980 has surpassed their previous flagship, the GTX 780Ti in terms of performance. They have also added in or updated support for the latest technologies in the graphics and gaming world to make user experience more realistic and seamless.
When Nvidia launched the new Maxwell 9 series GPUs in Singapore, they conducted a preview session with selected gamers and hardware enthuasists. Selected participants were allowed to tinkle around with the new Nvidia 9 series cards. Sincere appreciation to Nvidia, Hardwarezone and Zotac for the chance to tinkle around with this awesome piece of hardware.
