Samsung announced today the availability of the Flow, a set of tools so that developers can make switching between Samsung devices as painless as possible.
Flow has three components: Transfer, Defer and Notify.* The first component, Transfer, enables users to transfer things such as articles from one device to another (i.e. a news article from a phone to a laptop).* Defer allows people to put off certain tasks until they’re ready to work on them again.* Think of Defer as syncing your documents to the cloud and then picking up where you left off when you arrive at the office. *It also lets you pick up where you left on things such as video clips.* Notify lets people receive notifications and messages on all devices.* So you can leave your mobile devices in the other room and still see incoming messages on your Samsung TV.
If you’re thinking: Doesn’t Apple have something similar?* Yes, it does, and it’s called Continuity.* Basically Flow is Samsung’s answer to Continuity.* There is currently no Flow tech going around just yet, as the SDK was only released today.* Once things pick up, we may see Samsung one step closer to replicating a similar ‘Apple-esque’ ecosystem for its Galaxy-branded devices.
