Also, an outrageously high-resolution 5.4-inch Quad HD display, improved 20.7 MP rear camera and 64-bit Snapdragon 805 processor.
Anyone thinking of replacing their daily mobile driver this holiday season, and maybe saving a few bucks in the process? You probably don’t need us to tell you it’s usually a good idea to conduct your gadget shopping on or around Black Friday.
But if the best of the best is what you’re after, this year it might be wise to keep your bank accounts intact and give it a few more weeks. Sony has confirmed its CES 2015 presence in January unusually early, suggesting the Las Vegas tech expo could be the stage for something big.
Literally, but most of all figuratively, as the Xperia Z4 is tipped to sport a fairly pocketable albeit stunning 5.4-inch Quad HD Triluminos screen. Yup, that’s 2,560 x 1,440 pixels on a tiny 5.4-inch piece of glass, resulting in a beastly 543 ppi.
Also beastly, the purported quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 805 chip under the hood. Sure, 2015 is going to be the year of S810, however Qualcomm’s next-gen spearhead is only likely to see daylight in the summer. So yeah, S805 is the best of the best for H1 2015.
Z4’s alleged primo perk should ensure the smoothest multitasking you’ve ever experienced on Android, as 4 GB RAM are said to squeak their way inside Sony’s iPhone 6 Plus “killer”. Don’t need all that memory? Maybe not today, but the ecosystem is continuously progressing, and there’s no such thing as too much progress.
Wrapping up the crazy-sounding spec sheet, you’ll apparently receive a main snapper with the same resolution as the Z3 (20.7 megapixels), but hefty improvements in the lens department, as well as new add-ons and several other mysterious upgrades. The 4.8 front cam is a (small) step forward too, and the 3,420 mAh battery only makes sense if a sub-7 mm profile is to be achieved.
Speaking of slender handhelds, the anonymous tipster that provided Phone Arena with all this unofficial intel claims a 5.7 mm slim Z4 Ultra will also break cover in Sin City at the beginning of January. With a 5.9-inch Triluminos panel (probably a Quad HD unit, too), the same otherworldly 4 GB RAM, S805 SoC and slightly inferior 16 MP main camera.
That last part is certainly odd, and casts doubt on the legitimacy of the entire alleged leak. The renders floating around are themselves quite fishy, so don’t hesitate to throw a pinch of salt on the report before gobbling it up. Better safe than sorry, right?
