Microsoft officially teases first non-Nokia Lumia device

An official announcement should take place*on November 11.

Microsoft*confirmed late last month that it would soon be replacing Nokia’s name with its own on Lumia smartphones, and the Redmond giant isn’t wasting any time and will make the first Microsoft Lumia smartphone official on November 11, according to a teaser posted on the Nokia Conversations blog.

“Microsoft is delivering the power of everyday mobile technology to everyone,” says the official teaser. The tagline is as good a clue as any that the first non-Lumia phone will be a mid-range or budget device with a price that attracts the masses, a fact that was reiterated earlier this week when the Microsoft-branded*RM-1090 broke cover online.

The RM-1090 features specs like a 5-inch HD screen, a quad-core Snapdragon 200 chip, 1GB of RAM, dual SIM slots, 5-megapixel primary camera, and a 1,900mAh battery, specs should make for a handset that’s powerful and capable enough without needing a high price tag. The phone should be available in orange, as shown in the image accompanying the teaser, and a few other funky colors.

It’s still unclear what the device will be called, but with November 11 just a few days away, Windows Phone fans (and those looking for a good device on a budget) shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out all the nitty gritty details.
