Apple is now the top mobile brand in China

It overtakes arch rival Samsung to clinch the top spot.

Evidently Apple’s China strategy has been working quite well. The company is now the top mobile brand in China, which is regarded as one of the fastest growing markets in the world for mobile devices. Apple overtakes Samsung to take the top spot as pointed about in new research from the China Brand Research Center’s 2014 China Brand Power Index ranking report.

Samsung has been at the top for nearly two years now. It became the top mobile brand in China back in 2012. Not anymore though. By polling 13,500 people in 30 cities aging between 15-30 from August 2013 to January 2014, China Brand Research Center finds that Apple is now regarded as the top mobile brand in the country, and not Samsung.

Apple has evidently been focusing on China and considers it to be a key market for growth. The company has already detailed plans to open several new retail stores inside China to increase its retail presence. Its new iPhones, even though they launched a bit late, have done well in the country.

A spokesman for Samsung declined to comment on what the Korean giant thinks about being dethroned by Apple as the top mobile brand in China. Apple rarely ever comments on such research reports, but fans of the company will certainly take pride in this achievement.
