'Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition' coming to consoles this August

Blizzard announces an August*release window for Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition on current and next-gen consoles.

The recently released Reaper of Souls DLC pack went lengths to re-vitalize Diablo III‘s crumbling community, establishing core concepts to make a solid foundation that holds its ground today, two months after its release. With a smattering of new loot, a bevy of much-needed updates, and a brand new Templar character class, the game was resurrected into an entertaining and epic adventure*that pretty much saved the game.

Before Reaper of Souls hit, the console version of D3 received soaring review scores while opening up the game to a new audience.*But there was a catch; console owners had to wait while PC gamers got their hands on the new DLC.

All that will change soon; Blizzard today announces the official launch*date for the Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, a new retail release*which will effectively bring the Reaper of Souls DLC (as well as the original game) to current and next-gen consoles.

Reaper of Souls brings in a huge helping of content, including new modes like Adventure Mode, Bounties, Nephalem Rifts (for all of those loot-hunters out there), raising the level cap to 70, and a brand new Mystic artisan that can craft truly incredible gear.

Gamers will also be able to transfer their saved characters from the original game over to the new release, allowing players to continue their quest to take down Malthael, the Angel of Death. Check out our official Reaper of Souls review for a full run-down of the content added in the new DLC.

Also don’t forget that the Ultimate Evil Edition will feature four-player co-op both locally as well as online, making it the perfect dungeon crawler to play with friends.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One flavors of the game will cost the standard $59.99, whereas the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions are $39.99. It appears that current-gen gamers*won’t be able to buy just the DLC for a set amount rather than having to essentially re-buy another copy of D3, but we might hear something more in the next coming weeks.

The Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is slated for a release on August 19, 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For more information be sure to visit the game’s official website.
