Visceral Games confirms leaked 'Battlefield: Hardline' footage is six months old

Footage for the new Battlefield game has been leaked all over the net, but the devs at Visceral Games affirm that the trailer is quite dated.

The gaming sphere has been abuzz with the recently leaked footage for Battlefield: Hardline, the next entrant in the landmark FPS series in development by Visceral Games and DICE. The trailer*itself (see below) was unearthed by dedicated code digging over at the*Better Battlelog forums, which was then promptly leaked across the web for all to see along with a slew of game info including weapons,*multiplayer*modes, and vehicles.

In response to the leak, EA promptly pulled the curtain and officially announced the new Battlefield game–which was originally scheduled for a premiere reveal at E3 2014.

The trailer is comprised of a ton of gameplay footage, and highlights a very fresh “cops-vs-robbers” theme*for the Battlefield franchise while serving up some explosive*multiplayer and singleplayer action. In many ways the trailer instills a distinct Point Break vibe, only on a more tactical and chaotic*scale found in the Battlefield series.

While the visuals and mechanics fit with the classic Battlefield look and its frenetically-paced firefights, Hardline aims to be a unique entrant by allowing players to use stealth-based sneaking as well as investigation techniques–making it a more dynamic experience.

Despite the fact that the leaks were very recent, it appears the trailer is actually quite old.

According to Steven Papoutsis, Vice President and General Manager of Visceral Games, the trailer is six months old and was debuted during an internal meeting. Papoutsis affirms that the devs have been working hard on the game since then and have made leaps in progress–all of which will be shown off at this year’s E3.
Video that’s out there was for an internal meeting. It’s 6 months old now and team has been cranking since then. See the real deal at E3.

EA plans to hold a world premiere for Battlefield: Hardline on June 9, 2014 at 12:00 pm PDT, and we’ll likely be treated to a wealth of info–not to mention fresh next-gen footage–at the event. It’ll be interesting to see how EA’s new footage compares to the leaks, and what surprises they have in store for us regarding multiplayer and campaign.

Battlefield: Hardline is*slated for a*Fall 2014 release window for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For more information be sure to visit the game’s official website.
