Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (SM-P907A) 'confirmed' for AT&T

One of Samsung’s most heavily anticipated 2014 tablets, likely to be dubbed Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, is inching closer to its commercial launch, as a notorious source of mobile-related gossip claims it’s currently in testing with AT&T.

According to Twitter guru @evleaks, the massive 12-incher destined for America’s second largest wireless network is known on the inside as the SM-P907A. That particular codename has more than a few ties with a couple of monikers that have surfaced on the web in the past, namely SM-P900 and SM-P901.

It also most certainly indicates we’re dealing with a version supporting cellular connectivity, specifically 4G LTE. Beyond that, @evleaks has no new intel for us, though fortunately the Note Pro is hardly an enigma following recent spills of information.

Since this is bound to be essentially a glorified jumbo-sized variant of the GNote 10.1 2014 Edition, not many of the features will get makeovers. The same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU is expected to run the hardware show, aided by 3 GB RAM and a slightly beefier 9,500 mAh battery.

While you’ll definitely be gaining on screen real estate, the pixel density should actually lose steam, with the resolution tipped as identical: 2,560 x 1,600. In the end, the sole noticeable tweak is likely to come on the software side of things, where Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is to be replaced with 4.4 KitKat.

As far as the “when” part of the equation goes, I’m afraid we’re forced to keep things vague for a little while longer and advise you to expect the S Pen-toting beast out and about in Q1 2014. And not just on AT&T, since all signs point to gigantic slates really taking off over the next 12 months. January, February, March? All three are possible. Hopefully, next week’s CES will help clear the air.
