Sony Xperia Z3 specs leak points at extremely minor upgrade over Xperia Z2

Sony’s biyearly flagship launch schedule might result in the company’s next flagship being a very minor upgrade over its predecessor.

Pictures claiming to show the Sony Xperia Z3 have leaked quite a few times in recent weeks, and now a new leak has given us details on some of the phone’s hardware.

According to @evleaks, the Xperia Z3 will feature a 5.15-inch 1080p display, though it will probably be a 5.2-inch unit like the Xperia Z2. It will be powered by a 2.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and will also sport 16 GB of internal storage, the same 20.7-megapixel rear camera like its predecessor, and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.

Except for the OS version, those specs are pretty much the same*as the Xperia Z2. The phone is even expected to sport the same design, at least if the leaked images are the real deal, so it remains to be seen how Sony expects to differentiate the Z3 and give consumers a reason to buy it over the already feature-packed Xperia Z2. The company probably has some plan to achieve those goals – if not, it will likely*be better off sticking to launching only one major flagship handset each year like other manufacturers.
