Samsung holding 'Galaxy Premiere' event on June 12, AMOLED tablet announcement likely


Invites sent out to the press make it pretty clear that the event will be centered around the company’s upcoming tablets with AMOLED displays.




Samsung it is holding an event titled “Galaxy Premiere 2014″*in New York on June 12, and the “Tab into color” slogan on the press invite*suggests an official unveil of the Galaxy Tab S.

The Galaxy Tab S has been making the rounds in rumors lately, and is expected to be a new tablet lineup that sports Samsung’s trademark AMOLED displays. The tablet is said to come in 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch variants with high-resolution 2560×1600 displays, and other premium features like a fingerprint sensor, similar to the Galaxy S5. There is supposedly a 13.3-inch tablet on the cards as well, though it is expected to feature an LCD display that probably won’t be as impressive.

Specs of the Galaxy Tab S are said to include an octa-core Exynos 5420 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8-megapixel and 1.3-megapixel rear and front-facing cameras, and connectivity options including*Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS/GLONASS, LTE and an IR blaster. The tablets will run Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Samsung’s Magazine UX, and will also feature a perforated texture on the back, according to leaked photos.
