I have some spare parts from core 2 duo era, ide cd rom ddr2 ram etc.
Since they are not sell-able as 2nd-hand, I wish like to construct my 1st HTPC
However I am not sure if at end of day, is useful to me.
a) I own a desktop in my study room running serviio server to stream media files (mainly anime for subtitles) to my living room LCD TV.
b) I also utilize my Asus N66U router (attached with 1TB USB HDD) as 'NAS' to stream media files to my TV using DLNA technology.
If I build a HTPC and put it in my living room, some advantages
a) i could let my mother surf net with wireless keyboard + mouse or stream Korea drama
b) let my wife stream XIN TV past episodes
I cannot find any advantages for myself :023:
Any parents here? Will the HTPC be useful for your kids? (i download Utube nursery video and put them in my 1TB HDD as mentioned above to play via DLNA already)
