Overclocker posts impressive results on Z97 MPower AC MAX

Indonesia’s Alva “Lucky_n00b” Jonathan hits 6.4 GHz with a Core i7-4770K.

MSI has always cited support of overclocking as one of its core principles, and this is one of the reasons why it has so much support in the enthusiast community.

At MSI’s recent product showcase and media event in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, it brought in regional superstar overclocker Alva “Lucky_n00b” Jonathan to see how far its motherboards could go under the extreme strain of overclocking.

With the help of the usual cocktail of liquid nitrogen, and native overclocking support in the Z97 MPower AC MAX motherboard, Jonathan managed to push the Core i7-4770K up to 6.4 Ghz before it crashed.

While the Core i7-4770K clocked that high isn’t terribly useful because of its lack of stability, it’s impressive that it could get that high in the first place on MSI’s Z97 MPower AC MAX board. If overclocking on this board works so well at such extremes, imagine the stability at more normal overclocking frequencies.
