A direct contributor to G3’s buzz-building campaign more than once in the recent past, LG is back to hype its next-generation flagship smartphone via a vague but intoxicating official video teaser.
Not sure who conceived the latest promotional clip for LG’s upcoming G3, but it may as well have been “Inception” and “Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan. Just close your eyes and think about something else for a second.
Keep them closed and now play the 35-second video. Doesn’t the soundtrack feel very Hans Zimmer-ish? As for the moving pictures, special effects, lights and editing, the Bat-Signal is the only thing missing to complete the epicness.
Too bad all in all the teaser is just smoke and mirrors. Sure, it confirms G3’s improved optical image stabilization, the ever so slightly redesigned rear physical buttons, the presence of Knock Code on the software side of things and even a metallic design element.
But exactly what sort of metallic element are we looking at? Is it plastic made to resemble aluminum yet just as chintzy and cheap when it comes down to it? A polycarbonate-metal blend of some kind to bring the best of both worlds together? Or a full-on, “unapologetic”, a la HTC’s Ones all-aluminum chassis?
That, my friends, is the question. The big question. The make-or-break aspect. Remember, specification-wise, there’s little left to the imagination, with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, quad-core Snapdragon 801 chip, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB built-in storage, microSD card slot, 13 MP rear-facing camera and 3,000 mAh battery nearly set in stone.
