The leaked renders indicate that HTC is making slight design modifications to the higher-end and cheaper variants of its current flagship.
A new leak has brought us a full 360-degree look at the upcoming HTC One M8 Prime, along with a render of a cheaper variant of the HTC One M8.
Notorious leakster @evleaks revealed many of the details of the HTC One M8 Prime over the weekend, and now, he has published an image that claims to show the device in all its 360-degree glory. While most of the design is similar to the HTC One M8, there are noticeable differences on both the front and back. The device seems to have a Duo Camera setup similar to the M8′s, but the main shooter appears to protrude from the phone’s body.
There’s no telling why the camera juts out like that, though hopefully it’s a sign that HTC has taken all the criticism to heart and increased the resolution of the UltraPixel camera. On the front, the BoomSound speaker grills have been redesigned and seem bigger, which could result in an even louder sound output. Unfortunately, the black bar with HTC’s name on it seems to have been left intact, meaning we could yet again*get a device that is a tad taller than it should be.
The M8 Prime is expected to be unveiled in September, with features such as faster LTE connectivity,*3GB of RAM and a QHD (2560×1440) display,*features that are expected to be common on smartphones coming out in the second half of this year. But that’s not the only phone the Taiwanese manufacturer might take the wraps off over the coming months – an HTC One M8 Ace has been rumored*to be in the works, and today, that handset has also managed to show up in a leaked render.
The M8 Ace is said*to be a cheaper variant of the M8, with the image suggesting a standard camera setup. The phone is expected to be made of plastic instead of aluminium, a move that could bring its price down to somewhere below $500, while keeping most of the high-end specs of HTC’s current flagship, including a 5-inch 1080p display and a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor.
The HTC One M8 was one of the most heavily leaked smartphones before it was officially announced, and it looks like the same will be the case for the Prime and Ace variants. As usual, none of this is official until it comes from the horse’s mouth, but given @evleaks’ excellent track record, we are probably looking at the real deal.
