Guide: HM67 Mobile Chipset RAM compatibility

Hi everyone,

Recently bought a 2nd hand Dell Vostro laptop that just ran out of warranty. The laptop is supposed to be lightly used, i7 dual core mobile and runs on HM67 chipset.

I'm thinking of upsizing the RAM from its stock 4GB to 8GB and swap out the WD Caviar HDD to a SSD (have a spare 530 series).

So just want to verify and poll somethings with everyone:

1. HM67 chipset supports which SODIM RAM speeds?

Most SODIM value RAMs sold at SLS are now on 1600MHz, a quick google search shows that HM67 supports 1600MHz.

Correct?

2. Given that the laptop is already out of warranty - is it worth making the switch from HDD to SSD? The laptop will only be used on Sundays - other days I use my desktop.

Thanks guys!
