MSI GTX 970

I was given a chance to try out the MSI GTX 970 4GB Gaming Card.

While the graphics of Nividia have always been excellent , i would prefer to take a look at the new features that is loaded in the card.

Noise levels are solid with the MSI GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Gaming OC sitting in the middle of the pack when it comes to load numbers. At idle, the card doesn't make any noise thanks to the fans not spinning when below 50c.

One of the things that really freaks me out is when I see fans that are not spinning. In the past a non spinning fan meant the fan was broken and something was about to overheat. This is not the case. The Twin Frozr stops both fans when the GPU temperature drops under 50°C. I have a temperature controlled environment and I tend to keep the temperature in the room at around 26°C. When idle the fans stopped but the CPU temperature was staying steady at 31°C. During testing the fans did not kick in until the CPU reached 60°C and even then fan speeds were very low at about 20% and the temperature stayed right around 73°C. During the limited overclocking that I was able to do, the temperature never hit 80°C. MSI has put a lot of effort and engineering into the Twin Frozr V.

With Twin Frozr IV, MSI introduced new technologies such as Torx Fan technology and Hybrid Frozr along with larger heat dissipation, etc. The Torx fan delivers 19% more airflow then propeller blade and has 75% more structural integrity and 5% lower noise compared to its predecessor. Then there’s Hybrid Frozr which allows independent fan control of both the 100mm fans and finally, we have Zero Frozr which stops spinning the card below 50C to reduce noise and adjust idle and load balance.

A nice advantage for the cards is that they now come standard with 4 GB of DDR5 graphics memory, this means gaming sweetness at even the highest resolutions. All games play perfectly at up-to WHQD at 2560x1440. The GeForce GTX 970 is a nice Full HD to WHQD card that certainly offers a nice chunk of performance in these resolutions. Overall you can play all the modern and latest games with nice AA levels and excellent image quality, the PC gaming way. So that's the 970, the GTX 980 I would recommend with Ultra HD, especially with MFAA (pending a driver release) you'll be able to play games quite well. The GeForce GTX 970 I'd call a very solid WQHD card, e.g. it is great for gaming up-to 2560x1440 and actually truly perfect for Full HD gaming.

Finally, I will say that NVIDIA’s based GeForce GTX 970 Gaming revolutionzes the GPU industry once again with its amazing architecture design, a ton of features, massive performance output, superb energy efficiency and a custom design which the masses would like to get a taste of. I can go on talking good things about the card but that’s the reality

Performance. And definitely worth every single cent for the price for this card.
