Discuss: Smartphone accessory feedback

Dear VR-Zone members,

I am currently building a hardware accessory for Android/iDevice and i need your feedback for it. It would be great if you could give me some clue on whether you would use it, buy it and do you think it would be useful for you, would you carry one on yourself and more importantly how much more would you pay for a 32GB internal memory version compared to an ordinary flash drive, etc. Any amount of feedback would be very useful. :)

The device is the size of a normal thumbdrive and has the following abilities:

Connectors:

  • Comes with two connectors built-in.

  • USB for connecting to USB ports on PCs and tablets.

  • MicroUSB/Lightning connector for connecting to smartphones and tablets.

Features:

  1. Flash drive

  2. MicroSD card reader

  3. Data+Charge cable

How does the device function?

  • Plug the device into your phone and you would be able to access the flash drive and microSD card to store, access or backup files.

  • Plug the device to your PC and you could access both the flash drive and microSD as well.

  • Plug the device to both your smartphone and PC to sync & charge OR to a charger/powerbank to charge up.

  • While charging via a powerbank, your smartphone would still be able to access the data in the device, so you could even watch movies on the go.

Some use cases:

  • If your phone memory gets filled up, create more space on your phone by backing up all your big media like photos and videos onto this device *very useful when travelling*

  • Even if you use a camera to take photos, plug the microSD card into this device and you could immediately view even large videos instantly on your tablet or smartphone *no buffering involved as you're reading directly from memory card!*

Any amount of questions and suggestions would be appreciated, seriously. However kindly keep in mind that the device hasn't been built as I am still working on it with my buddies, hence i will not be able to show pictures of the product. :o

Lastly, i'm posting in this thread mainly because it seems most appropriate here. If it's not the right thread, do let me know. Thank you so much for your support and I do urge you to get involved in expressing your thoughts and opinions as it would truly matter. :)

Cheers!
