The ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q isn’t quite exactly*your typical gaming monitor.*While its predecessors boasted support for refresh rates of 120Hz or 144Hz and NVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology, the ROG Swift sort of rewrites the history book on gaming monitors. It*will be one of the first 27″, 2560×1440 (2.5K in other words) screens which supports Nvidia’s G-Sync*(TN panel without a doubt) without being 1080P again.
In order to offer us gamers better control over their gaming environment ASUS has included a special dedicated “Turbo” key which allows for the selection of refresh rates in steps from 60Hz, 120Hz or to 144Hz with just one click, sounds interesting.
3D vision is supported but 3D glasses are not provided
Apart from the obvious aspects, ROG Swift also has 1 ms GTG response times which is fairly impressive on it’s own, a 6mm bezel, a VESA Wall mount and tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment capabilities.
Oddly, despite Nvidia’s use of a DVI-based scaler replacement the panel is fed by a single displayport and it does include 2 USB 3.0 ports and a 5-way joystick for the OSD.
ASUS PB298Q
The 29-inch ASUS PB298Q is like having two 5:4 aspect ratio, 17-inch displays side-by-side, but made even better without monitor bezels between them. It has*a 2560 x 1080 resolution and that’s 33% wider than standard Full HD, giving you more room for more windows and extra screen real estate to work on spreadsheets with up to 13 more standard-sized columns.
It is also AH-IPS with 178 degree viewing angle and features*swivel, tilt, pivot and height adjustments. It has 5mS GTG response times which is quite good for a IPS monitor.
Price for the PB298Q is 799S$ and the PG278Q ROG Swift is 1259S$
