where should i connect my 320L NAS, at router or switch?
TO router (requires switch)
xxxxxx|-- desktops
ont--router--switch
xxxxxxxxxxxxx|-- tv (dlna client)
xxxxxxxxxxxxx|-- 320L NAS (dlna server)
TO switch (eliminate the switch)
xxxxxx|-- 320L NAS (dlna server)
xxxxxx|-- desktops
ont--router--tv (dlna client)
-- connection
ignore the xxx...
occasionally transfer downloaded movies/drama to NAS. once in blue-moon store photos. every weekend will use DLNA feature to watch movies. i think NAS and TV both connected to switch should be the shortest path but i can totally eliminate the switch if i connect the NAS to router. i think latency is not 'feel-able' in home network.
