Samsung's Galaxy Core 2 leaks online: 4.5-inch WVGA screen, quad-core CPU

The*Galaxy Core 2 will look a lot like the original Galaxy Core, if the leaked images are any indication.

Leaked images out of Russia indicate that Samsung is getting ready to launch the Galaxy Core 2 soon. If the specs are to be believed, it looks like Samsung is downgrading the hardware on the Core 2 from the first generation variant.

The device is said to feature 512 MB RAM, which is lesser to the 1 GB RAM that was included in the original Galaxy Core.*The amount of internal memory has also been lowered, from 8 GB on the Galaxy Core to 4 GB on the Galaxy Core 2.

Other hardware details don’t inspire any confidence either, as the Galaxy Core 2 is said to come with a 4.5-inch WVGA screen, which is slightly bigger than the 4.3-inch screen on the first-generation Core while retaining the same resolution. The design of the device is also very similar to that of the original Galaxy Gear.

The processor gets a boost however, as the Core 2 is said to feature a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor to the dual-core variant used in the Galaxy Core. The device is said to run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and come with a 2000 mAh battery along with a 5 MP camera at the back and a 0.3 MP shooter at the front. As for connectivity, users have to content with HSPA+. The Galaxy Core 2 is estimated to launch in Russia in the month of May for around $277 (9990 rubles).
