TUF Series: Dust de-Fan

Z97 TUF: Sabertooth Mark 1 motherboard built with a new feature called Dust de-Fan. There is a small delta fan mounted on the rear I/O panel. It draws cool air into the armour from outside and into the chassis to help cool the VRM components. It spins reverse direction of air flow to expel the dust inside the chassis.

Local short film - Don't Hang Up, My Love

Don't Hang Up, My Love is a 24-minute short film containing

a series of vignettes about love and loneliness in a big metropolis.

Shot in Tokyo and Singapore, the movie follows nine characters

as they carry out telephone conversations

filled with lust, betrayal, nostalgia,

loss and heartbreak.

Don't Hang Up, My Love is the seventh short film produced by LENS REBELS

and was shot over nine separate days over 11 months.

The cast includes Singaporean actors Abby L. Kahei, Lyon Sim,

Cherene Leong, De Xin Chia, Nantha Gabriel and Drake Lim as well as

Mexican Daniel Sahagun and Tara Asturias from the Philippines.

Following a non-traditional narrative, the movie is an exercise in

emotive acting, multi-lingual (Tamil, English & Chinese) & multi-cultural

settings as well as unique conversations that range

from tirades against parochial religious attitudes to

the simple, human tragedy of a painful break-up.

Does anyone out there switch phones on a regular basis?

My iPhone 5S soon to be half year old and it suffered water damage last month. It is a pig of a job to replace the new battery got from mpj. Although my 5S works great now, I would like to explore new operating systems. Does anyone out there switch phones on a regular basis? What has your experience been?

HTC W8 said to be Windows Phone 8.1 flagship for Verizon

The HTC W8 could spearhead HTC’s return to the Windows Phone market, as the company reportedly ditches plans for a super high-end Android flagship.

HTC is said to be prepping a flagship Windows Phone device codenamed W8, after more than a year of absence from the Windows Phone scene.

HTC was said to be working on a Windows Phone device based on the 2013 HTC One, but that never came to pass, perhaps because of the constant losses the company has been going through in the last few quarters. With the W8, the rumor mill is now*pitching a Windows-flavored variant of the Taiwanese manufacturer’s newest One flagship,*with @evleaks hinting at a Q3 release on North America’s largest carrier.

According to @evleaks, the W8 will also sport features like stereo BoomSound speakers and the Duo camera that debuted on the HTC One M8, but those are the only details offered by the notorious leakster. If the similarities in naming are anything to go by, we’ll like see the HTC W8 sport pretty much the same hardware as the M8 while being powered by Windows Phone 8.1, though probably with a design that is reminiscent of existing HTC Windows Phone devices like the 8X and 8S.

With HTC’s plans for a Prime variant of the One M8 reportedly on hold, it looks like the W8 could be the next best thing to look forward to.*It would be interesting to see what the W8 will offer – with Nokia’s hardware business now under Microsoft’s umbrella, the time is ripe for manufacturers to make their presence felt in the Windows Phone market, and HTC might just be able to turn some heads*by matching Windows Phone’s clean and sleek look with its critically acclaimed hardware design and craftsmanship.

Google opens a webform to comply with EU's data privacy policy

Google finally exercises the “right to be forgotten”, with the implementation of a search removal request system in the European Union.

Does it feel irksome that some of the old info that you have on the web is still behind you because of Google Search? Well, if you’re in the European Union, then you now have the chance to forever remove these outdated and possibly unwanted information, with Google’s implementation of a new search removal request system.

The webform, from where the option was first announced yesterday, briefly stated how the system came to be, and how to use it. According to the given instructions, users can submit a request for the removal of certain data related to them, in accordance to the European Data Protection Law. Europeans who wish to have a little more privacy may have their outdated information completely removed, at their request, and at the fulfillment of a few identification requirements.

News of Google receiving requests and even complaints about data privacy are hardly new, *and we all already knew how it eventually lead to the renewal of their data privacy policies last 2012. However a more decisive action was taken when a series of complaints and court cases came, which stemmed from a recent privacy complaint from a Spanish man, who was actually the one who advocated the “right to be forgotten”.

On the surface, it looks pretty easy to justify the need to hide or conceal information that would otherwise be sensitive for users. However, the issues behind this new policy*go quite deeper*than what could be seen at a glance.*For instance, Google specifically pointed out in its webform that certain “outdated information” that would still be of sufficient public interest, such as “financial scams, professional malpractice, criminal convictions, etc.” may still remain open to the internet public.

We may not be able to completely predict the ramifications of this new system, but a few opinions suggest that there could be technical loopholes, though that is already an entirely different topic in itself.

HOOT! CM Storm Pitch Personal Review

Just bought this last week! :lol: Backstory : I had been trying to hunt for a IEM to complement my Xiaomi Pistons that does sounds decent has a decent microphone inside and doesn't cost too much and when I was in Cybermind a few weeks back I found what I was looking for, the Pitch!

Pretty featureless box but the use of shiny logos really makes the box stand out but the great thing is how the earpieces are displayed on the box

CM goes on and on about the specs but forgets to put the package contents? Nuts. Shame on that exclusion. And actually every CM Storm product I have bought came without a package content list.

A soft pouch that also closes or opens "automatically"

The IEMs themselves. The use of gunmetal gray is epic.

3.5mm TRRS Y-splitter for use on PC and 3 sets of earbuds.

(Note : the earbuds on it are mine, they are custom fit earbuds for my enormous earhole :P)

The TRRS jack for use with your phone. Great for skype on the move

Of course since this is mobile-centric a call button must at least be present

Details like CM Storm's logo is a nice touch

A look in the IEM

Aesthetics : I think it looks great. The use of red cables though ... makes me feel it's a Beats wannabe. Or not. The IEMs as previous mentioned are doused in gunmetal gray paint which gives it a premium feel. Of course it's not the most premium premium feel out there but it's good enough.

Performance :

The cable is 1.2m which sounds long but it actually isn't. It's just the nice length for use on the go or at home

Of course it isn't a Xiaomi Piston nor was I expecting it to be but it does sound decent but it has to be said, bass is tight which is nice but it lacks all oomph and is rather harsh.

Not as harsh as my Piston but it has less oomph than the Piston making it sound like it's emphasized on mid-range and mid-bass which makes it a tad muddy with my library of tracks like anything from fripSide (post-2009) but it does well with Battlefield 4 and my trance tracks.

So if you are using this to listen to music preferably a -3dB dip in treble and -4dB mid-treble as well as a increase in +2dB increase in bass.

Is it a beats wannabe? Absolutely NOT. A beats in-ear has very loose bass and it sounds like it's all over the place while this doesn't.

Build quality :

The connector and the IEMs are great but the headset button is not. It feels cheap but at least not as cheap as a Razer Hammerhead which costs quite a lot more too.

I always slam Razer as though I'm a fanboy but the truth of it is that Razer is a hell lot of branding and nothing much else these days

Pros :

Good build quality

Decent price at $49

Actually complements my Xiaomi Pistons.

Tight bass

Cons :

Lack of package contents on the box

Tight bass (Subjective)

I give this IEM a 7/10 score. It doesn't make the full 10/10 because it has it's cons and because it's a IEM. Tradeoffs are to be made but if I was scoring it against IEMs it's a 8/10

Would I recommend it to a gamer on the move? Hell yeah I do.

Microsoft releases file manager app for Windows Phone

The native file manager is another example of Microsoft making its mobile OS more flexible and accessible for end-users.

Microsoft has released a file manager app called Files on the Windows Phone store, after confirming earlier that the ability to browse through user files would be arriving on the OS.

When Windows Phone 8.1 was unveiled, people were disappointed to find that despite being jam-packed with new features, it was still missing a way to access all files on the device from a central place. Microsoft later confirmed in a Reddit AMA that it was working on a file manager, and now, the app has gone live on the Windows Phone store.

Files is only compatible with Windows Phone 8.1 at the moment, which means it’s quite limited in reach right now. While not as flexible as file managers on Android, where the entire internal and external storage is accessible like hard drives on a computer, Files does feature most utilities one would expect – users can search for all their documents, pictures, music and other files, copy, move, delete or rename them, and share multiple files with other apps.

A native file manager is a good step in Microsoft’s attempts to be a middle-ground between iOS and Android, offering security and ease-of-use like the former, and (somewhat) power user*functionality like the latter. Files will likely be part of the Windows Phone 8.1 update when it rolls out to devices in June, and can be downloaded from the Windows Phone store here.
