HTC releases Rapid Charger 2.0 accessory, claims 40% quicker charge

HTC has a new quick charge accessory that claims to juice up your HTC-branded smartphones up to 40% quicker.

The new charging unit uses Qualcomm’s Rapid Charge 2.0 technology, and works mainly on some of HTC’s newer handsets.* These include the HTC M8, E8, M8 Hardon/Kardon Editions and the Desire Eye.* Before you head over to the HTC website to add the new gadget to your shopping cart, you need to know the item is currently unavailable in the US.* There is no information on the exact date in which the item will be available, but hopefully you don’t have to spend a fortune to buy it.

Similar accessories from Motorola is running for around $35, so we don’t expect the HTC variant to be priced any higher.

HOOT! Unboxing REEVEN ColdWing 2000rpm 120mm Fan

Hi guys

Another unboxing thread by myself :)

Im sure some may not be familiar with the brand itself. It was not known to me before but i was made known to their controller which were very unique.

In any case, I have gotten myself this fan. Specs-wise it looked interested, more on par with those high-end ones but at more affordable price.

Specifications

  • FAN SPEED : 2000rpm +- 10%

  • AIR FLOW : 106 CFM

  • NOISE LEVEL : 36.6 dBA

  • STATIC PRESSURE : 0.114 inchH20 or 2-3 mmH20

Here are the photos.

The package itself.

It comes with the molex connector, screws and sticker

The quality of the braiding.

The product number, power needed to run the fan.

I have read that fans with long, thicker-end have better static pressure. True?

The fans that were replaced

I have noticed a temperature drop of at least 2 deg.

A list of 120mm fans.

Before turning on.

Turned on.

I do not have those gadgets which measure airflow. I have to use my hand to feel the airflow and the suction of the fan at max speed. It definitely have much better airflow and stronger suction as compared to the Yate Loons even though the YL are rated at 2200rpm. Maybe its because of the more wattage used, maybe someone who shed a light in this.

So if anyone interested to give it a try, do let me know. I have few sets left.

Thank you for reading !!

HOOT! Unboxing NZXT Grid+ Fan Controller

Hi guys

I just got myself a NZXT Grid+ Fan Controller and it comes with CAM software for monitoring/controlling.

Specifications :

  • Able to control 06 fans

  • Maximum wattage of 30watts

  • Very discreet installation - One would able to hide it anywhere

  • Way affordable as compare to other type of controllers

So without further ado, here are the photos.

The all important NZXT seals - to ensure the product inside is original and was not tampered.

It comes with 2 years warranty !!

Simple-layout packaging - A detailed manual, the controller itself and cables ( 1 Molex cable, 1 USB cable, 2 or 3 4-3pins converter ) Do note if one uses the converter, the RPM would not be shown in the CAM.

The serial number is on the controller itself.

This is what attracted me to the controller - the CAM software. This CAM software allows the user to control/monitor supported hardware ie the Kraken CPU cooler, Grid+ controller etc. The specific hardware is 'controlled' by the 'TAB' at the bottom right.

The Basic tab display all your rig specs, temperature and various graphs.

The 'Grid' tab, where one could control their fans. As you guys can see, in the middle portion, there are 3 fan-profiles ( Custom, Silent and Performance ) and in each profile, there are Auto and Manual modes. The information displayed are quite useful, from the wattage that the fans are using to the current fan speed.

As you can see, the controller can be placed 'discreetly'. :)

Well, I hope this unboxing thread is useful for those looking for fan controllers or those who are interested in these type of CAM-enabled hardware. There are numerous controllers out there but there are none that is like the Grid+ - additional software monitoring without additional hardware installation.

For those who are interested, i have a BOX left. Do let me know.

Thank you for reading !!

Reinforced iPhone 6 Plus units are a myth

Rumors about iPhone 6 Plus units being reinforced due to #bendgate have been smashed.

Soon after the new iPhone 6 models were released a couple of months back several reports surfaced online of iPhone 6 Plus units bending when carried around in a particularly tight jeans pocket, this gave rise to a phenomenon that came to be known as #bendgate. However Apple clarified that it had only received 10 formal complaints regarding this issue for the millions of units that it shipped, so it wasn’t as widespread as many thought it was.

Recently reports starting circulating that Apple had quietly fixed the bending issue in iPhone 6 Plus by adding reinforcements to the frame. This would have resulted in an increase in the device’s weight. A Reddit user claimed to have noticed a 21 grams weight different between his brand new iPhone 6 Plus model as opposed to his wife’s two-month old unit.

This was chalked up as reinforcements being added in the frame to prevent the device from being bent. However repair firm iFixit went ahead and tried this on another unit and only found 0.8 grams worth of difference between weight. It should be mentioned here that due to the difference between configuration and manufacturing process, a difference of 1.5 grams between any two iPhone 6 Plus models is expected any way.

That most certainly does not mean that Apple has internally made a change to the iPhone 6 Plus and at the cost of weight taken care of an issue that affected only a minor subset of all the customers who purchased an iPhone 6 Plus.

FYI: M1 system

Irritated by M1 subscription system... Called them to ask to cancel my broadband, they said that my contract ends 4th dec and will need to give them 7 days notice... fair enough but also cannot cancel before the the 7 days so if I do it after 28 nov(which is 7 days before 4th) they will charge the 59.90 per month rate for the number of days over that date.

In short they are trying to make your life as difficult as possible if you wanna cancel... if you can't make it on the 28th you have to pay a premium(either the crap 59.90 rate for 100mbps cause no contract or the cancellation fee of 50+)... great job M1 for making cancelling so difficult...

I guess you can't have the best of both worlds... good pricing and good service
